Our Tribute to Amos
May 21, 1999 – December 21, 2021
Janet & Budgie Trimper
Amos FLF, our rock, our star, and our friend.
Amos, you were just 5 months old when we chose you at the Ashland Ohio Haflinger auction on October 22, 1999.
You were not the prettiest colt there. Kind of blocky and really hairy, but you ended up on our trailer and headed for Nova Scotia. You quickly found your way in the pecking order and in our hearts.
As you grew and matured you became our everything horse. Your beautiful red chestnut coat, your sweet beautiful face, your presence and your amazing personality made you a star, not only to us but to everyone who met you.
You willingly did everything we asked, and few things we did not. Like the cunning way you worked at leaving the person leading you and then thoroughly enjoyed the chase.
You loved getting on the trailer and going for a ride, to a show, a clinic, a trail ride, or any activity. I can still see you running alongside of the truck and trailer, so frantic that it was leaving without you.
In the show ring you were correct, proud and showy, earning top gelding and champion overall for much of your life.
In harness you showed your strengths well and gave us your all. Single, team, tandem, three abreast, unicorn, four in hand, six in hand, log yarding and obstacles, you did it all.
You were our go to horse for everything and every occasion.
When we established the NS Haflinger Club in 2001, you were there. Every demonstration, show, clinic, trail, and sleigh ride, you were there. Your willing way was not limited to the show ring. You stood alongside of your teammate Lilly to get down and dirty in your work harness. Ploughing, harrowing, and cultivating the garden were all part of your talents.
Amos, you left your mark in the Haflinger world in Nova Scotia and you will always be in our hearts and memories.
Rest easy Amos

Nova Scotia Haflinger Club, President’s Report, Feb/Mar 2022
Greetings fellow Haflinger members. I hope this message finds you all well and staying safe.
First I’d like to remind those members who haven’t paid their membership for 2022 to please do so. No changes were made to the $15.00 per person membership for those over 19. (Please remember those who own or handle the horses need to also have an NSEF Membership).
As we have all been affected with the Provincial Covid Mandates, the club was unable to hold our 20th Anniversary. Hopefully as things start to open up the club may be able to plan something this year.
The Club’s account increased nicely due to an online auction which was organized by Ardith Hatch and raised $714.00 for the club. On the club’s behalf I would like to thank Ardith for all the time she spent doing this. The club had planned to do a calendar again this year, but due to lack of submission’s it was cancelled. Janet sent a financial statement reporting the Club has $XXXXX in our account and $34.41 in petty cash as of Dec 31, 2021.Thanks to Tim Bowser our web page and Facebook page continues to be up and running, He is looking for more pictures and info.
Thank you to the Board for making decisions needed to conduct the club’s business. Our last year’s AGM was held via zoom on Mar., 28. A big “Thanks” to Tim Bowser for setting this up for us. On Dec., 5th 2021 7 members meet at the Crossroad’s Restaurant for lunch, mini meeting and gift exchange. It was nice to see those who attended and we met Jacqueline Kaulback who joined our club this year.
Hopefully this year will be better than the last couple of years and the club will be able to go ahead plan and take part in our 20th Club Anniversary.
I’d like to “Thank” the Board and the membership for their continued support. I hope this year will be easier for everyone.
Please stay safe.
Respectfully,
Holly Stillwell

WORMING - Contributed by Janet Trimper
Worming trick that I tried today. Works quite well and no fight. I would suggest giving carrots at other times to avoid association. Someone else told me that they slather a piece of bread with the wormer, fold it over and their horse gobbles it down. Will try that next time. |

Here is something new: Northville Heritage Center May 21, 2016. Budgie Trimper spent time working his two Haflingers at their 'Planting Day' event.
Still worth holding on to: Donald Armstrong's 100th birthday at the Annapolis Valley Nursing Home
